If you are driving long distances, you should plan to take a break every two hours so that you do not become affected by fatigue.

Fatigue reduces your ability to drive safely as well as your judgement, reaction times and ability to control your vehicle.


Warning signs of fatigue

The signs include any of the following:

• yawning

• sore or heavy eyes

• dim or fuzzy vision

• stiffness and cramps

• delayed reaction times

• drifting lanes.


Tips to avoid driving tired

You should do all of the following:

• plan to stop at road rest areas in the NT

• stop for a 15minute break every two hours of driving

• take a walk to stretch your legs and drink some water

• consider changing drivers if possible.
